Building an Extreme Makeover Smile

Each week the ABC network features Extreme Makeover the television series, which showcases everyday people undergoing a series of cosmetic procedures and having their lives changed. Our extreme doctors may not have appeared on the show, but we do perform the same techniques and procedures that are performed by the shows doctors.

The participants have the opportunity to experience the benefits of plastic surgery through multiple procedures. Participants on the show have breast augmentation, liposuction, nose jobs, brow lifts, eye surgery, chin augmentation, and teeth whitening and straightening. Other participants underwent lip enhancement with collagen injections, tummy tucks, upper and lower eye lifts, porcelain veneers, and neck lifts. A highlight of Extreme Makeovers this second season has been the achievements in Cosmetic Dentistry. In one particular show, Bill, had full dental reconstruction that not only changed the shape and look of his smile, but also added to his self confidence.

Bonding is a procedure in Cosmetic Dentistry that is used to fix chips or fill gaps. Bonding is achieved by applying a type of thin white-colored plastic to the outside of the teeth. As technology has advanced, there are now more options than simple bonding.
