How Veneers Can Give You a Celebrity Smile

How Veneers Can Give You a Celebrity Smile

It’s reasonable to want the kind of smiles you see celebrities flashing in their social media posts or while looking perfect on the red carpet. But is a smile like that possible for the average person? The answer is yes, thanks to veneers.

Downtown Dental Studio in New York City offers veneers, just like the ones celebrities get. With a simple procedure, you too can see a brilliant smile when you look in the mirror.

Veneers 101

Veneers are a cosmetic dentistry option when you want straight, white teeth. This process helps you get a perfect smile in a way that many other cosmetic treatments don’t. What’s more, they’re long-lasting, with a 90% survival rate of over 10 years.

The process involves placing thin pieces of porcelain over your natural teeth to give you the appearance of larger, whiter, and straighter teeth. You must maintain your veneers, which aren’t removable but wear down over time. After 10-15 years, you may need new veneers.

Patients are usually highly satisfied with their veneers and enjoy their new, perfect smiles. Remember that getting veneers doesn’t preclude you from oral health problems, so you still need to take care of your teeth and gums.

What the procedure is like

Before any major dental procedure, such as this one, it helps to know what to expect.

At Downtown Dental Studio, we start with a consultation. Your provider examines your teeth to ensure that you’re a good candidate for veneers. For example, if you grind your teeth regularly or have other oral health issues, we may discuss different options.

Once you’ve settled on veneers, you return to the office so that we can prepare your teeth for the procedure. That involves shaving some enamel off the surface of your teeth to make it easier for your provider to affix the thin porcelain veneers.

After that, we take a mold of your smile to create the veneers, which may take a week or so.

Finally, it’s New Smile Day! After your provider places each custom-made veneer, they may need to do some etching and cleaning to ensure the veneers look perfect. Then, they use adhesive and a special light to bond the veneers to your teeth.

Managing your expectations for veneers

Sounds like a snap, right? It’s still important to consider your expectations for veneers, which is part of the consultation process. And whatever your goals, know that veneers require maintenance similar to maintaining your natural teeth.

Veneers can leave your natural teeth slightly more vulnerable, making it more difficult to treat dental problems. Don’t put yourself in this position; commit to caring for your teeth and gums.
